BrotherStrong Weekly Encouragement and Prayer
Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 23
Focus: Healthy Self, Forgiveness and Freedom
Week of June 8, 2026
Theme: "Free Yourself"
Weekly Encouragement
Brother,
Some of the heaviest weights a man carries cannot be seen.
Resentment. Bitterness. Disappointment. Unforgiveness.
Sometimes we hold onto pain because we believe letting go means what happened was acceptable.
It was not.
Forgiveness does not mean you approve of the hurt. It does not mean you forget the offense. It does not mean trust is automatically restored.
Forgiveness means you refuse to allow the pain to continue controlling your life.
The truth is that unforgiveness often hurts the person carrying it more than the person who caused it.
Every day you carry anger, it occupies space that could be filled with peace. Every day you carry bitterness, it steals energy that could be used for growth.
This week, we challenge you to examine your heart honestly.
Who do you need to forgive?
Perhaps it is a parent. Perhaps it is a former friend. Perhaps it is a former partner.
Perhaps it is yourself.
Freedom begins when forgiveness enters the room.
Do not allow yesterday's hurt to determine tomorrow's possibilities.
Weekly Prayer
God,
We come before You carrying hurts, disappointments, and wounds that have lingered longer than they should.
You know the pain we have experienced. You know the names, faces, and memories attached to it.
Today, we ask for the strength to forgive.
Not because it is easy. Not because the pain was insignificant. But because we desire freedom.
Help us release bitterness. Help us release resentment. Help us release the burden of carrying old wounds.
Teach us how to forgive others and how to forgive ourselves.
Replace anger with peace. Replace bitterness with healing. Replace pain with purpose.
Amen.
Weekly Activation: Release the Weight
Mind: Write down one hurt, disappointment, or grievance you have been carrying.
Soul: Ask yourself honestly, how has holding onto this affected my peace, relationships, or growth?
Spirit: Pray specifically for the strength to forgive and release what has been weighing on your heart.
Reflection Question: What would my life look like if I stopped carrying this pain?
Continuing the Journey
The Healthy Black Man Challenge is about becoming whole.
Not just physically healthy. Not just financially stable.
Whole.
Mentally. Emotionally. Spiritually.
Forgiveness is not weakness. It is one of the greatest acts of strength a man can demonstrate.
Keep doing the work.
Weekly Affirmation
"I choose freedom over bitterness. I choose healing over resentment. I choose forgiveness so I can move forward."
A Word to Black Women Reading This
Forgiveness is difficult work.
Many Black men carry wounds they rarely discuss. Some have been carrying them for years. Sometimes those wounds show up as silence, distance, frustration, or guardedness.
Healing often begins when forgiveness becomes possible.
We invite you to continue sharing the Healthy Black Man Challenge each week with every Black man you know.
Encourage him to release old pain. Encourage him to pursue healing. Encourage him to give himself permission to move forward.
Forgiveness does not erase the past. It simply refuses to let the past control the future.
Your encouragement can make a difference.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us. Thank you for sharing each week. Thank you for believing in the growth, healing, and wholeness of Black men.
Weekly Challenge for Black Women
This week, think about a Black man in your life who may be carrying a burden you cannot see.
Reach out and encourage him.
Remind him that healing is possible. Remind him that growth is possible. Remind him that freedom is possible.
Sometimes one conversation can start a journey toward healing.
Closing Reminder
Healthy men do not ignore their wounds.
They acknowledge them. They address them. They heal from them.
And when they do, they become stronger, healthier, and freer than ever before.
Until all have been touched... keep reaching!
