Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 33: Be Where Your Feet Are

BrotherStrong Weekly Encouragement and Prayer
Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 33
Focus: Healthy Self, Presence and Being Present
Week of August 17, 2026
Theme: "Be Where Your Feet Are"

Weekly Encouragement

Brother,

Your presence is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

Not your money.

Not your accomplishments.

Not what you can provide.

You.

We live in a world that constantly pulls our attention somewhere else.

The phone is buzzing.

Work is calling.

Bills need to be paid.

Someone needs something.

And even when our bodies are in the room, sometimes our minds are somewhere completely different.

But brother, life is happening right now.

Your children are growing right now.

Your relationships are being shaped right now.

Your health needs your attention right now.

Your purpose is unfolding right now.

Do not become so consumed with building tomorrow that you miss today.

Being present means listening without preparing your response.

It means putting the phone down and looking someone in the eyes.

It means enjoying the meal instead of rushing through it.

It means recognizing when your body is telling you it needs attention.

It means sitting with your own thoughts instead of constantly trying to escape them.

And sometimes, being present simply means allowing yourself to enjoy your life.

Brother, you have spent a lot of time working for the life you have.

Make sure you are actually living it.

This week, slow down enough to notice what is happening around you.

Laugh a little longer.

Listen a little closer.

Love a little deeper.

Pray a little slower.

Be where your feet are.

Because your presence matters more than your performance.

Weekly Prayer

God,

Thank You for the gift of today.

Forgive us for the moments we have been so focused on tomorrow that we failed to appreciate what You placed before us today.

Quiet our minds.

Slow our pace.

Help us to become fully present with the people we love.

Help us to listen without distraction.

Help us to notice the moments that really matter.

Teach us to appreciate our families, our friendships, our health, our lives, and the simple blessings we sometimes overlook.

When our minds wander toward yesterday, remind us that we cannot change it.

When anxiety pulls us toward tomorrow, remind us that You are already there.

Give us the grace to live fully in today.

Amen.

Weekly Activation: Week 33 Challenge

Theme: Be Present

Mind: Choose thirty minutes each day this week to put your phone away completely. No scrolling. No notifications. No distractions. Simply be present wherever you are.

Body: Take one intentional walk this week without headphones or your phone in your hand. Pay attention to your breathing, your surroundings, and how your body feels.

Spirit: Spend ten quiet minutes with God each day without asking for anything. Simply pray: "God, thank You for this moment." Then sit in gratitude.

Reflection Question: What am I missing in my life because I am physically present but mentally somewhere else?

The Journey Continues

Thirty three weeks into this challenge, we have talked about becoming stronger, healthier, more disciplined, more emotionally aware, and more spiritually grounded.

But none of it matters if we never learn how to be present enough to experience the life we are building.

Your family needs your presence.

Your brothers need your presence.

Your community needs your presence.

And sometimes, brother, you need your own presence.

You need moments when you check in with yourself and ask: How am I doing? What am I feeling? What do I need? What am I grateful for?

Healthy Self requires self awareness.

And self awareness requires presence.

Weekly Affirmation

I am present.

I am grateful for today.

I give my full attention to the people and moments that matter.

My presence is valuable.

A Word to Black Women Reading This

Sometimes the Black man in your life believes the greatest thing he can give you is what he provides.

Remind him that sometimes what you value most is simply him.

His presence.

His conversation.

His laughter.

His attention.

His time.

Many Black men have learned to measure their worth by what they accomplish and provide. Sometimes they need to hear that they are valued beyond what they can produce.

We invite you to continue sharing the Healthy Black Man Challenge each week with every Black man you know.

Share it with your son.

Share it with your husband or partner.

Share it with your father.

Share it with your brothers.

Share it with your coworkers and friends.

Encourage the Black men in your life to slow down enough to experience the lives they are working so hard to build.

Thank you for encouraging Black men.

Thank you for creating spaces where Black men can be present.

Thank you for continuing to believe in healthy, whole, and emotionally present Black men.

Weekly Challenge for Women

This week, invite one Black man you care about into a moment that requires nothing from him.

No fixing.

No providing.

No solving.

No performing.

Maybe it is a meal.

A walk.

A conversation.

Or simply sitting together.

And tell him: "I don't need anything from you right now. I just enjoy having you here."

Those words may mean more than you realize.

Closing Reflection

Brother,

You can always make more money.

You can complete another project.

You can chase another goal.

You can answer another email.

But you cannot get this moment back.

Your children will not always be this age.

Your parents will not always be here.

Your friends will not always be a phone call away.

And neither will you.

So live.

Love.

Laugh.

Listen.

Pray.

Pay attention.

Put the phone down sometimes.

Look around.

Take it all in.

The world needs your presence more than your performance.

Be where your feet are, Brother.

Today deserves all of you.

Until all have been touched... keep reaching!

Jeremy
