BrotherStrong Weekly Encouragement and Prayer
Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 36
Focus: Healthy Self, Financial Health and Stewardship
Week of September 7, 2026
Theme: "Your Money Needs a Mission"
Weekly Encouragement
Brother,
Let's talk about money.
Not how much you make.
Not what you drive.
Not what you wear.
Not what people think you have.
Let's talk about your relationship with money.
Because financial health is part of Healthy Self.
Money can create freedom.
Money can create opportunity.
Money can create security.
But when it is unmanaged, money can also create stress, anxiety, arguments, sleepless nights, and unnecessary pressure.
And sometimes the problem is not simply that we need more money.
Sometimes we need a better plan for the money already passing through our hands.
Brother, you do not have to be wealthy to become financially healthy.
You just have to become intentional.
Know what is coming in.
Know what is going out.
Know what you owe.
Know what you are saving.
Know what you are spending without thinking.
And most importantly, know what you want your money to accomplish.
Your money needs a mission.
Maybe the mission is eliminating debt.
Maybe it is building an emergency fund.
Maybe it is purchasing a home.
Maybe it is starting a business.
Maybe it is investing.
Maybe it is preparing for retirement.
Maybe it is leaving something for your children.
Maybe it is simply reaching the point where an unexpected expense no longer creates a crisis.
Whatever your mission is, give your money direction.
Brother, financial health is not about impressing people.
It is about creating options.
It is about reducing unnecessary stress.
It is about preparing for tomorrow while responsibly living today.
It is about stewardship.
It is about discipline.
It is about freedom.
Do not be ashamed of where you are financially.
Just refuse to stay financially unaware.
Open the statement.
Check the balance.
Look at the debt.
Make the plan.
Start where you are.
You cannot change numbers you refuse to look at.
Weekly Prayer
God,
Thank You for every resource You have placed in our hands.
Give us wisdom concerning our finances.
Teach us to become good stewards of what we have, whether it feels like little or much.
Give us discipline in our spending.
Give us patience in our planning.
Give us wisdom in our decisions.
Help us distinguish between what we want and what we truly need.
Free us from the pressure to impress others with things we cannot afford.
Give us courage to face our financial realities without shame or fear.
Help us eliminate unnecessary debt, build savings, prepare for our futures, provide responsibly, give generously, and create opportunities for the generations coming behind us.
And as You increase what flows into our hands, increase our wisdom so that we know what to do with it.
Amen.
Weekly Activation: Week 36 Challenge
Theme: Give Your Money Direction
Mind: Spend thirty minutes reviewing your finances this week. Look at your income, expenses, debt, savings, subscriptions, and unnecessary spending. No judgment. Just truth.
Body: Choose one spending habit this week that is costing you money without adding meaningful value to your life. Reduce it or eliminate it. Then redirect that money toward something that strengthens your financial health.
Spirit: Spend time praying specifically about your finances. Ask God for wisdom, discipline, contentment, and discernment. Then write down one financial decision you know you need to make.
Reflection Question: If my current financial habits continue for the next five years, will they take me closer to the life I want or further away from it?
The Journey Continues
Brother,
Thirty six weeks into the Healthy Black Man Challenge, we have talked about your body.
Your emotions.
Your relationships.
Your discipline.
Your integrity.
Your rest.
Your presence.
Your thoughts.
Your willingness to ask for help.
Now we must talk about your resources.
Because financial stress does not stay in your bank account.
It follows you home.
It affects your sleep.
It affects your relationships.
It affects your confidence.
It affects your choices.
It can even affect your physical and emotional health.
That is why financial health belongs in our Healthy Self journey.
Brother, the goal is not to become obsessed with money.
The goal is to stop allowing money to control your peace.
Start small if you have to.
Save something.
Pay something down.
Cancel something.
Learn something.
Invest something.
But do something.
Financial freedom begins with financial awareness.
Weekly Affirmation
I am becoming financially disciplined.
I control my money instead of allowing my money to control me.
I make decisions based on purpose, not pressure.
I am preparing for my future.
I am building something that can outlive me.
A Word to Black Women Reading This
Financial health matters to Black men too.
And sometimes the pressure a Black man feels financially is much greater than what he says out loud.
Many Black men carry an internal expectation that they should always be able to provide, solve the financial problem, pick up the bill, help the family, and somehow have enough left over for themselves.
That pressure can become heavy.
This week, encourage the Black men in your life to pursue financial health without attaching their worth to the amount of money they make.
A man's bank balance does not determine his value.
His salary does not determine his manhood.
His ability to purchase things does not determine his significance.
Encourage him to plan.
Encourage him to save.
Encourage him to learn.
Encourage him to build.
And please continue sharing the Healthy Black Man Challenge each week with every Black man you know.
Share it with your son.
Share it with your husband or partner.
Share it with your father.
Share it with your brothers.
Share it with your coworkers and friends.
Invite every Black man you know to join us as we continue becoming healthier in body, soul, and spirit.
Thank you for encouraging Black men.
Thank you for believing in our growth.
Thank you for reminding us that we are valuable because of who we are, not simply because of what we can provide.
Weekly Challenge for Women
This week, encourage one Black man to think about his financial future.
Ask him: "What is one financial goal you would love to accomplish within the next year?"
Then listen.
Do not compare his answer to someone else's life.
Do not tell him where he should already be.
Encourage the goal.
If appropriate, ask: "What's one small step you could take toward it this week?"
Sometimes encouragement turns an idea into a plan.
And a plan can change a life.
Closing Reflection
You do not need to become rich this week.
You need to become intentional.
One decision.
One budget.
One canceled expense.
One payment.
One deposit.
One conversation.
One new piece of financial knowledge.
One step.
Then another.
And another.
Your financial situation did not develop overnight, and it probably will not change overnight.
But it can change.
Do not compare your chapter to another man's chapter.
Do not spend money trying to look successful.
Build a life that actually is successful.
Create margin.
Create options.
Create peace.
Create something your children can build upon.
Brother, give every dollar you earn an assignment.
Give your future some attention.
Give your finances a plan.
Because your money should serve your purpose, not become your master.
Your money needs a mission, Brother.
Give it one.
Until all have been touched... keep reaching!
Jeremy
