Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 9: Feel It, Name It, Lead With It

BrotherStrong Weekly Encouragement and Prayer
Healthy Black Man Challenge Week 9
Focus: Healthy Self, Emotional Intelligence
Week of March 2, 2026
Theme: "Feel It. Name It. Lead With It."

Weekly Encouragement

Brother,

Emotional strength is not silence. It is awareness.

For too long, Black men have been praised for being stoic: for holding it in, for keeping it moving, for never letting them see you sweat.

But unprocessed emotions do not disappear. They surface: in tone, in tension, in distance, in decisions.

Real leadership begins within.

When you can name what you feel, you can manage how you respond. When you understand your triggers, you stop being controlled by them. When you process pain, you stop projecting it.

This week, we challenge you to slow down before reacting. Ask yourself:

What am I actually feeling right now?

Where is this coming from?

What response aligns with the man I am becoming?

Emotional intelligence is not weakness. It is mastery.

Weekly Prayer

God,

Teach us how to understand ourselves. Give us language for our emotions and courage to express them in healthy ways.

Help us not to suppress anger, bury sadness, or disguise fear as pride. Strengthen us to respond with wisdom instead of impulse.

Make us men who lead with emotional maturity, men who can communicate clearly, love deeply, and resolve conflict peacefully.

Grow us from the inside out.

Amen.

Weekly Activation: Pause & Process

This week, practice emotional awareness intentionally:

Mind: When you feel frustration, pause for 60 seconds before responding.

Soul: Journal at least twice this week answering: "What emotion did I feel today that I usually ignore?"

Spirit: Pray for wisdom before responding in any difficult conversation.

Growth Check: Did I respond differently this week because I slowed down?

A Word to Black Women Reading This

Emotional growth in Black men strengthens relationships, families, and communities.

Many men were never taught how to identify or express emotions in healthy ways. That doesn't mean they don't feel deeply, it means they often feel alone in it.

You can help change that.

We invite you to join this movement by sharing the Healthy Black Man Challenge each week with every Black man you know: Sons. Husbands. Partners. Brothers. Fathers. Friends.

Encourage them to register for the BrotherStrong Black Men's Empowerment Conference. It is FREE to attend. Registration is mandatory.

Women are welcome to attend Friday night and Saturday afternoon sessions. Saturday morning is reserved for men only.

Our keynote speakers, Dr. Joel Tudman and Anthony O'Neal, will pour wisdom, strategy, and encouragement into the men who attend.

When you share this each week, you are not pressuring a man. You are presenting him with an opportunity.

An opportunity to grow. An opportunity to heal. An opportunity to lead well.

Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for sharing every week. Thank you for believing in the power of healthy Black men.

Until all have been touched... keep reaching!

Jeremy
